Yamaha has revealed the fourth-generation MT-07 with a host of updates. This naked streetfighter is aimed at riders who want versatile performance, engaging handling, and a solid feature set in a mid-displacement package. Below are the key details, along with what we can expect if it launches in India.
Key Highlights & Styling
The 2025 MT-07 rides on a new tubular steel chassis that is stiffer than before, improving handling dynamics.
Styling has been overhauled to look sharper and more minimalist. The front end has been redesigned with a more aggressive stance.
To reduce overall and unsprung weight, Yamaha has used new spin-forged 17-inch alloy wheels, and its bodywork has been trimmed down. These help shave off some weight from the older model.
Engine, Performance & Transmission
MT-07 retains the CP2 689 cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine.
Power and torque are in the ballpark of ≈72.4 bhp and ≈66-67 Nm respectively.
One big new feature: the availability of Y-AMT semi-automatic transmission, which allows clutchless shifting using paddles/buttons. The traditional 6-speed manual gearbox will still be offered.
Chassis, Suspension & Handling Changes
Front suspension is upgraded to a 41mm upside-down (USD) fork.
At the rear, there’s a preload-adjustable monoshock.
Seat height has been lowered to ≈805 mm, improving reachability for more riders.
Footpegs have been moved down by about 10 mm, and the handlebar is wider and placed closer to the rider, likely improving ergonomics for everyday use.
Electronics & Features
Throttle system is upgraded to ride-by-wire, enabling multiple ride modes.
A 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity is standard.
New intake funnels, revised airbox, and ports on top of the fuel tank channel intake sounds to deliver a better auditory experience to the rider.
Braking system gets an upgrade: front radial-mounted 4-piston calipers. Dual-channel ABS is expected.
Weight & Dimensions
The kerb (dry) weight has been brought down to ≈183 kg, reduced by about 1 kg from the previous generation, thanks to lighter wheels and slimmer bodywork.
Fuel tank holds about 14 litres
