Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, is gearing up to electrify the SUV segment with the launch of its much-awaited e-Vitara. Expected to hit the market in 2025, this all-electric version of the popular Grand Vitara represents Maruti’s entry into the mass EV space, where affordability, practicality, and technology converge.
Modern SUV Styling with a Futuristic Edge :- The upcoming Maruti e-Vitara will carry forward the bold stance and muscular SUV design of the Grand Vitara while introducing EV-specific elements such as a closed-off front grille, aero-optimized alloy wheels, blue accents, and a sleeker LED lighting signature. Built on Suzuki’s global platform with Toyota’s EV inputs, it is expected to be slightly longer to accommodate a larger battery pack without compromising cabin or boot space.
Battery, Range, and Charging :- At the heart of the e-Vitara will be a 60–65 kWh battery pack, promising a real-world driving range of 500–550 km on a single charge. Fast charging support will allow an 80% charge in under an hour, making it practical for both city commutes and long highway runs. Maruti is also expected to offer multiple charging solutions, including home wall boxes and access to a growing public fast-charging network.
Tech-Loaded Cabin:- Inside, the Maruti e-Vitara is expected to feature a premium, tech-rich cabin with a floating touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, digital driver display, and ventilated seats. Sustainable, eco-friendly materials could also be used in the upholstery to emphasize its green credentials.
Performance and Drive Experience:- Powered by a high-output electric motor, the e-Vitara is expected to deliver instant torque and smooth acceleration, with driving modes for efficiency and performance. The SUV will likely offer both frontwheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options, catering to urban buyers as well as adventure enthusiasts
Safety First :- Safety will be a strong focus with the inclusion of six airbags, a robust high-tensile steel body structure, ABS with EBD, traction control, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS features.
Price and Rivals :- Maruti Suzuki is likely to price the e-Vitara aggressively between Rs18–25 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a direct rival to upcoming EV SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV.
Conclusion :- The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara marks a turning point for India’s EV market. With its competitive pricing, long range, practical SUV design, and Maruti’s trusted after-sales network, the e-Vitara could become the people’s electric SUV—much like the original Vitara Brezza did for compact SUVs.
