Volvo is gearing up to introduce its most sophisticated electric model yet — the Volvo EX90, a flagship SUV that signals the brand’s bold commitment to an all-electric future. Positioned as the successor to the widely admired XC90, the EX90 blends Scandinavian elegance, advanced safety features, and strong performance in a purely electric form.
Design and Presence
The EX90 stays true to Volvo’s minimalist design philosophy but adds a modern edge. Roughly the same size as the XC90 at just over five meters long, it offers a spacious cabin with seating for up to seven passengers. Power and Performance
At launch, two all-wheel-drive versions will be available:
* Twin Motor: Delivers about 408 hp and 770 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in roughly 5.9 seconds.
* Twin Motor Performance: Packs a stronger 517 hp and 910 Nm of torque, cutting the 0–100 km/h sprint to just 4.9 seconds. Both variants are electronically capped at 180 km/h, consistent with Volvo’s safety-first principles.
Battery and Range :-
The EX90 is powered by a 111 kWh battery pack (107 kWh usable), enabling up to 600 km on the WLTP cycle — about 300 miles under U.S. EPA ratings. Charging is equally advanced: with 250 kW DC fast charging, the battery can go from 10–80% in around 30 minutes. Overnight AC charging at home is also supported. In select markets, Volvo adds bi-directional charging, allowing the EX90 to supply power to homes or devices when needed.
Technology and Safety :-
Safety has always been Volvo’s hallmark, and the EX90 builds on that legacy. Standard LiDAR sensors, cameras, and radar create what Volvo calls a “protective cocoon” around the vehicle, helping prevent accidents and assisting in complex conditions. Inside, a 14.5-inch vertical touchscreen — powered by Google software — drives the infotainment system, providing seamless updates and smart integrations. Buyers can choose between seven-seat or six-seat configurations, appealing both to families and luxury seekers.
